In Malawi he is currently volunteering at an organization named Centre for Community Organisation and Development. CCODE works in alliance with the Malawi Homeless People's Federation (MHPF), a grassroots network of saving schemes of people living in poor communities in Malawi. Together, the alliance works to address land tenure, affordable housing, water and sanitation, livelihoods as well as health issues in Malawi's communities.

Boitumelo (Gugu) is a young South African. She holds various qualifications in the area of information technology (IT). Professionally, she is an Educational Technologist facilitator and administration assistant at Motutathuto Primary School and she is the general manager of Intuthuko Tlhabologo Computer Services.

Volunteer organisation:

In Mozambique she is currently working at an organization named Associacao nucleo de Mavalane contra droga e Sida. Nucleo de Mavalane Contra Droga e Sida is a non-governmental organization of young students who came together in 1998 after a long period of living together as fellow students while participating in activities such as theater acting. During this period, the youth created a healthy environment of trust, where they combined their experiences, joined forces and decided to form the Centre for Preventative Health. The purpose of the centre is to provide knowledge on preventative health to the youth, mostly teenagers from schools and surrounding suburbs. Knowledge shared focuses on STI/HIV/AIDS, DRUGS, early and unwanted pregnancy.

Carla Floteia Nhamcale

Carla is a young Mozambican who finished her High School education in 2005. In Mozambique she is an activist; she mobilizes and disseminates information to the youth in the area of sexual reproductive health.

Volunteer organisation:

Carla is currently placed at an organization named Durbanville Children's Home. The Durbanville Children's Home is a non-profitble organization that was established in 1883 as the then Kinderzendinghuis. The home has been the refuge to children for over 124 years. The children are of different races, creeds, gender with ages ranging from 0 to 18 years. The children come from seriously disadvantaged environments caused by HIV/AIDS, drugs and divorce. Durbanville childrens home accommodate 145 children in 12 house units. These children often need therapy as well as specialized care. Most of the children have faced extreme trauma in their young lives as a result of broken homes, extreme poverty, HIV and many other factors. Many of them have been neglected, abused sexually, emotionally and physically and consequently have experienced traumatic psychological effects.

Cristina Jorge Mulungo

Biography:

Cristina is a young Mozambican she completed high school in 2007. She has worked in various organizations in Mozambique, but never stopped given her services to the community on a volunteer basis. She is a representative of women's interest at the CNJ (National Youth Council) and is an active volunteer at AMODEFA (Mozambican Association for Family Development).

Volunteer organisation:

She is currently volunteering at Badisa Uit en Tuis Creche, which was started in 1954. The Creche accommodates 120 children between the ages of 3 months to 6 years on a daily basis. We aim to supply "the best home, away from home. Hence, giving parents peace of mind whilst at work". We render developmental, stimulation and daily programs with the emphasis on early childhood development.

Gloria is a young South African. She finished her high school education in 2009. She has volunteered for 3 months in Central Western Jabavu.

Volunteer organisation:

In Mozambique she is currently working at an organization called Amodefa, at the Namaacha offices in the outskirts of Maputo. Amodefa is an umbrella organization for various youth organizations in Mozambique which works in the area of reproductive health. Amodefa is an NGO that was founded 1989 as a body of an international organization named International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). They also provide a platform for various youth interests to voice and challenge exclusion in Mozambican society. For example; the homosexual movement, movements against drugs and aids; these groups disseminate information at community level.

Guston is a young Malawian who holds various qualifications in the area of business management. He is also studying towards a diploma in business management at Lilongwe Technical College. In his volunteer capacity in Malawi, he serves as the general treasure of an organization named Youth Action Movement (YAM) and is a board member of an organization name Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM).

He is currently volunteering at AFS Interculture South Africa (AFSISA) as an intern. AFSISA is an international volunteer organization that specializes in the area of intercultural learning.

From high school he has been engaged in volunteer work. He was the chairman for AIDSTOTO and he worked with Nkhotakota Aids Support Organization (NASO).

In Mozambique he is currently volunteering at an organization called UNIDOS: Rede National contra Droga, The main mission of the NGO is to advocate for human rights, gender equality, and to advocate for and promote a society free of abusive drug consumption and risk behaviours that leads to vulnerability to HIV/AIDS infection. The organization has a wide network network, offering prevention services centered in the knowledge of reality, breaking taboos, knowing risk situations, promotes health option by men, women, boys and girls.

Lizze is a young Malawian. She holds a qualification in HIV/Aids management, and in her professional life she is a Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) counselor. In her capacity as a volunteer in Malawi she serves as the President of Youth Action Movement (Y.A.M.), a Board member of Family Planning Association of Malawi and a also as a volunteer for Grassroots soccer

Volunteer organisation:

In South Africa she is volunteering at an organization named Zakheni: Training and Development Centre. The organization operates in the area of HIV Aids training and information sharing with individuals who will then invest back to their communities. The organization was founded in August 2003. The programs include peer education, life skills, health matters, leadership skills, Arts and culture for youth both in and out of school.

Majwaleng Lazarus Maneke

Lazarus is a young South African. He completed his high school education in 2008.

Volunteer organisation:

In Malawi he is currently placed at The Malawi Interfaith AIDS Association (MIAA) that was established in 2003 as an interfaith service agency and is composed of the Malawi Council of Churches (MCC), Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM), Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM), Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM), Quadria Muslim Association (QMAM), and the Association of Christian Educators in Malawi (ACEM) continues to play a pivotal role in the coordination and facilitation of HIV and AIDS programming in the country. The main aim of the Secretariat is to facilitate a united commitment of Faith Communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS. MIAA has now gained experience and acquired the necessary skills to coordinate a robust faith based response to the community. Since its establishment despite the "teething" problems the Secretariat now has developed all the necessary structures to scale up the response. MIAA will consolidate the faith communities'' strengths, credibility, that is grounded in communities offering them the opportunity to make a real difference in combating HIV/AIDS.

Mendes is a young Mozambican. In Mozambique he is an active volunteer for an organization named AMODEFA (Mozambican Association for Family Development) where he coordinates activities in a school. He is responsible for mobilization, dissemination and activism in the area of reproductive health.

In South Africa he is currently placed at the Displaced and Migrant People Support Programme (DMPSP) Alien Rights. This is a Non-Governmental Monitoring body with a MISSION to ensure the protection of the rights of foreigners in South Africa. The Monitoring of Xenophobic attitudes or incidents is currently the main aim of the organization. Furthermore it is the aim of Alien Rights to vociferously announce and create awareness of the plight of foreigners through interactive relationships with host states, governments and communities, other likeminded institutions and organizations and the media.

Mihlali is a young South African. She is an undergraduate psychology major at the University of the Cape Town. She has volunteered for Shawco community outreach programme.

Milhali is currently placed at Family Planning Association of Malawi. The association is a member of IPPF. Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) was established in 1999. FPAM has moved from focusing largely on family planning to providing a wide range of integrated sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, targeting mainly young people and rural communities. Services include provision of youth friendly SRH information, education and behavioural change communication materials to young people at the Youth Life Centres and schools. This is done by peer educators using group discussions, theatre performances, publications and audio-visual materials by community reproductive health promoters, and counsellors.

Nthabiseng is a young South African. She holds qualifications in nursing and Electronic Engineering. She is also the Co-founder of an organization called Dobsnville Artistic Youth which deals with youth programmes that include theatre plays, traditional dancing, music and workshops in HIV/Aids. In Mozambique she is currently placed at an organization named Kulima. They have various projects operating in Mozambique.

Sangwani is a young Malawian. She holds various qualifications in the hospitality industry.

Volunteer organisation:

In South Africa she is volunteering for an NGO name Cotlands. Founded in 1936, Cotlands was originally created as a care centre for unwed mothers and their infants. Over the years it has evolved into an organisation offering shelter for abused, abandoned, HIV-positive, orphaned and terminally ill children from birth to fourteen years of age, as well as community based services to vulnerable children in five provinces of South Africa.
