Amkelwa is a young lady from South Africa. She holds a Bachelors of Art degree with Honours in Development Studies and another Bachelors of Arts in Political and International Studies, Industrial and Economic Sociology awarded by Rhodes University. In her professional life she has worked at Zayra Development Agency as a program advisor and at Rhodes university Global Diginity Day as a co-organiser. She also volunteered at Co-contributor Africa where she was responsible for research on food and infrastructure development. She is a member of Rhodes University' initiative called His People Society where she works closely with the community engagement office. Amkelwa is currently volunteering at the Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia.

Celokuhle "Celo" is a young lady from KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. She holds a degree in BCom Economics awarded by the University of South Africa. She has attended various platforms such as the All-Girls Economic Empowerment workshop hosted by the National Empowerment fund in 2006 and the Youth Empowerment workshop held by Sacred Heart High School 2005. Jabulani Fortune Lungu

Biography:

Jubulani is a young man from Lusaka, Zambia volunteering in South Africa. He completed his schooling at Munali High School in 2011. He is an active member of the youth group at the Reformed Church of Zambia. In the youth group he serves as the secretary responsible for mobilising the youth in the church and communities. In his volunteer engagement, along with other young people, they go to hospices, orphanages and foster homes to clean and to donate food and clothes. They also build schools and libraries in the rural areas. In future, he plans to study towards a degree in Economics. In South Africa, Jubulani volunteers for an organisation named Active Leadership for Public Innovation.

Jethro is a young man from Lusaka, Zambia volunteering in South Africa. In his volunteering life, through an organization called Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), Jethro was working towards empowering street kids with survival skills such as carpentry as a way of keeping them off the streets and improving their lives. Post his SayXchange experience, he plans to obtain a Social Work degree. In South Africa he is currently volunteering at Bench Marks Foundation.

Futhermore, Junior stood as a youth officer and IT administrator at the Human Rights Institute of South Africa. He is currently volunteering at MaiKhanda Trust in Malawi.

MaiKhanda works with The Ministry of Health and all partners and stakeholders in Maternal and Neonatal Health service delivery towards the achievement of Malawi’s “Road Map for accelerating the reduction of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality and Morbidity in Malawi”. Khuthalani is a young South Africa with a passion for regional integration. In his professional experience he Worked at SGS South Africa as an Environmental Scientist Trainee, was a project coordinator at Water and Health in Limpompo(WHIL) and was a former project manager/ice president for Enactus South Africa. The Centre for Community Organization and Development (CCODE) The Centre for Community Organisation and Development (CCODE), is based in the capital, Lilongwe. CCODE works in alliance with the Malawi Homeless People's Federation (MHPF), a grassroots network of saving schemes of people living in poor communities in Malawi. Together, the alliance works to address lanClick to visit CCODE websited tenure, affordable housing, water and sanitation, livelihoods as well as health issues in Malawi's communities. Since its inception in 2003, CCODE has supported MHPF and mobilised an increasing number of poor communities across the country around issues of settlement development. Besides saving on a daily basis to improve their communities, the Malawian Federation has energetically taken the lead in settlement upgrading by identifying problems and actively pursuing partnerships and solutions.

Melinda is a young lady from Lusaka Zambia volunteering in South Africa. She is a fouth year student at Zambia Open University studying towards a Bachelors Degree in Development Studies. She also holds a Certificate in Diplomacy,State Protocol and International Relations from Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations, a certificate in Psychology and Counseling from Kara Counselling and Training Trust and a certificate in Computer Studies. While in Zambia, she has volunteered at SHARE2 as a HIV/AIDS counsellor and she is an active member in an organisation called Young African Leaders Initiative where they advocate for policy change and development through workshops and raising public awareness on issues to do with good governance and development. Melinda is currently volunteering at the Southern Africa Trust.

Olwethu is a young lady from South Africa. She matriculated from Pretoria Girls High School and is currently studying towards an LLB degree at the University of Pretoria. One of her exposure to the SADC region was in 2012 when she was selected to participate in the Oliver Tambo Educational Tour to Tanzania,Swaziland and Mozambique hosted by the Somafco Trust. She has a keen interest in policy development on the African continent specialising in human rights. She is currently volunteering at MULEIDE in Mozambique.

In her professional life, she works for the Youth Association of Zambia as an assistant program officer responsible for organising international workcamps in the area of heritage preservation and sexual reproduction health and HIV/AIDS. She is also an activist for safe sex/use of condoms. Phebby also participated in a 6-month youth exchange program in Sweden called Youth Partners in Development (YPD). In South Africa she volunteers for Love Life.

Volunteer organisation:

Love Life - Love Life is an HIV prevention initiative for young people in South Africa. It fosters a sustained and high-powered campaign with nationwide community-level outreach and support programmes to promote healthy, HIV-free living among South African teens.

Biography:

Khuthalani is a young South Africa with a passion for regional integration. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Mining and Environmental Geology awarded by the University of Venda and a Certificate in Health Risk Assessment awarded by the University of Witwatersrand. He will be registered for a Masters Degree in 2014. In his professional experience he Worked at SGS South Africa as an Environmental Scientist Trainee, was a project coordinator at Water and Health in Limpompo(WHIL) and was a former project manager/ice president for Enactus South Africa. He is currently volunteering at the National Association for People Living with HIV in Malawi.

Volunteer organisation:

Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) FPAM is a member of IPPF and was established in 1999. FPAM has moved from focusing largely on family planning to providing a wide range of integrated sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, targeting mainly young people and rural communities. Services include provision of youth friendly SRH information, education and behavioural change communication materials to young people at the Youth Life Centres and schools. This is done by peer educators using group discussions, theatre performances, publications and audio-visual materials by community reproductive health promoters, and counsellors.

Ruth Kaoma Kabaso

Biography:

Ruth is a young lady from Lusaka, Zambia volunteeting in South Africa. She is a graduate in Gender and Development Studies from the National Institute of Public Administration. She is an active volunteer at the Council of Churches of Zambia where she facilitates the training of future trainers in gender equality and reproductive health within the country. She is also the Youth President of the African Methodist Episopal Church where she facilitates programs such as youth leadership, behavioural change and social identity. Ruth also volunteers for Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia as a facilitator in reproduction health, in Youth Vision Zambia and in 2410 which aims to empower the youth to participate on issues relating to governance and public health. In South Africa she is volunteering at an organization named Zakheni.

Volunteer organisation:

Zakheni Zakheni Youth Training and development Centre operates in the area of HIV Aids training and information sharing with individuals who will then invest back to their communities. The organization was founded in August 2003. The programs include peer education, life skills, health matters, leadership skills, Arts and culture for youth both in and out of school.
